Scholarship

Scholarships are grants that are earned by students in order to enter in a college that would normally be financially unavailable to them. The first thing that pops into Mr.Woodards' head if you ask him about scholarships is a "paid education".There are five classes of scholarships;
Merit:These are usually the largest scholarships. They are earned by achieving high grades, having impressive athletic abilities, unique artistic ability, and/or community service/involvement. Ex: Florida bright futures.
Need: These types of scholarships are earned by students who have greater financial needs than most people, most of the time these scholarships still have to be earned by exceptional academic successes: Florida Student Assistance Grant Program.
Sociology: The qualifying factors of this scholarship are race, religion, and or national origin. They are designed to help keep schools diversified and help immigrants get college level education. Ex: The imagine fund.
Institutional: Scholarships that fall under this category are offered by the university that a student wants to attend. FCCJ offers this type of scholarship given you meet the financial requirements.
General: These scholarships are given for many types of reasons. They can be found through various websites and institutions’: Juniata College Mary Francis Beckley Left Handed Scholarship. For more info talk to your councilor or research it on the web. Go braves.

This is a nice guide to scholarships for the financially challenged *cough* Parker students *cough*. Most people like to talk to guidance when it comes to scholarships, so an interview with a counselor would add so much to your article.

It might be helpful to get maybe an interview or two from a couple of seniors who are maybe working for a scholarship and get more information on what it takes to get them.
